Petition: Protect Millbrook's Water
We, the undersigned, do hereby wish to register our objections to the taking of the town of Millbrook's water source and its wastewater system to supply a megadevelopment located 12 kilometers away in the area known as Fraserville. In our opinion, we believe that the amount of water required will have a detrimental effect on the environmental integrity, economic viability and social fabric of the community. In our opinion, the amount of water needed to supply the expanded casino, and the proposed 'complete community' in Fraserville consisting of hundreds of residential units, hotel, golf course, recreation centre, community centre, offices, retail and industrial enterprises etc. will deplete the water reserves. In our opinion, as well, by using the water and wastewater system that currently supplies the town of Millbrook, the capability for sustainable growth and new development in Millbrook and the surrounding area will come to a halt. As a result the town will not prosper, instead, it will die. This petition will be respectfully submitted to all relevant authorities including, but not limited to, the Township of Cavan-Monaghan; to the Provincial Ministry of the Environment as a part of an Environmental Assessment Part II request; to the Ontario Member of Parliament - Rick Johnson; to the Federal Member of Parliament - Barry Devolin; to the Provincial Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs - The Honourable Jim Bradley; to the Provincial Minister of Energy and Infrastructure - The Honourable Brad Duguid; to the Provincial Minister of Natural Resources - The Honourable Linda Jeffrey; to the Provincial Minister of Agriculture - The Honourable Carol Mitchell - to the Office of Premier Dalton McGuinty; to the Federal Minister responsible for Infrastructure Canada - The Honourable John Baird, and to the Federal Minister of the Environment - The Honourable Jim Prentice.
